My favourite budget brand Wet N Wild have gone and done it again. Not only are their eyeshadow palettes and Megalast lipsticks incredible quality for minimal spend, their Megalast nail polishes are seriously something. Check out five new shades, reviewed and swatched below. Perfect, punchy, nails on a budget have never been so easy.
If you’re anything like me, this fabulous neutral will be your pick of the litter. A Latte Love (perfect name!) is a gorgeous light cream taupe. Neutral enough to be work appropriate, but pale-greige enough to still be kinda edgy. This was opaque in two coats, and is a cream formula with no sparkle. IN. LOVE.
Tree Hugger is a slightly muted, though still bright, mint green cream. This one was a little less opaque than A Latte Love, and needed three coats for perfection. Still applied smooth as butter though!
Wear Skinny Jeans is a stunning, slightly muted, periwinkle blue. It’s the EXACT colour I wanted my bridesmaid dresses to be, shame I didn’t have this back then to bring around the shops! While still a cream formula, it does have a slight shimmer, which doesn’t really translate to the nail. This is a three coater for perfection, and smooth as can be. It seems to be quite similar to Essie Bikini So Teeny, which makes me very happy as my Essie polish has a weird reaction with fast dry top coat making it dry with little bubbles. Hurrah for a budget brand outperforming the high-end version!
Reject The Mainstream is a dusty lilac, a nice warm toned pale purple, which is great for us who tend to suffer from teh lobster claws when wearing cool tones. It’s a cream finish and another two coater with smooth application. I feel like a broken record here, but when they’re good, they’re good!
Warm Filter is the PEFECT coral for summer. OK, I know we’ve not had the best of weather the past few months, but at least it can be summer on your fingertips! And we’re due our Indian Summer in September, right? RIGHT? Anyway Warm Filter is a coral cream two-to-three coater (for absolute perfection). Again I can’t say a bad word about application.
The formula of these polishes is really something. I find that creams tend to be the most unforgiving polish finish, going streaky and brush-strokey if the formula isn’t right. Budget brands tend to do jellies and glitters quite well, but their creams can be less than perfect. This is definitely not the case with these Wet N Wild Megalast polishes, which apply thick (but not too thick) and smooth. Thanks to the wide, flat “ManiCurve Pro” brush, you get complete coverage in a couple of strokes too. The new shades are punchy, but also slightly dusty and muted, perfect for the transition from Summer to Autumn. These wore for a week for me with top coat, but you have to bear in mind that I have hard gel overlay over my natural nails, so your mileage may vary. But priced at a measly €2.99, I reckon you can afford to take a chance on these babies.
What do you think ladies? Will you be popping these into your shopping trolley?
Wet N Wild Megalast polishes are priced at €2.99 and available in Dunnes Stores and select Penneys.
